KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan – AmCham Kaohsiung, in partnership with M1 International, will host a special event on September 22, 2025, from 6:00–9:00 p.m. at the InterContinental Kaohsiung Hotel, marking a bold new chapter for southern Taiwan’s international engagement.

The evening will feature the official unveiling of The Kaohsiung Times, a new English-language digital media platform dedicated to elevating Kaohsiung and southern Taiwan on the global stage. The platform will play a central role in advancing Taiwan’s Bilingual 2030 strategy (雙語政策) while providing a hub for international voices, business, and culture.

  • Celebrating a Bold Restart Since its relaunch in late 2024, AmCham Kaohsiung, together with M1 International, has identified strong demand for international services across media, sports, and community life in southern Taiwan.
  • Unveiling The Kaohsiung Times Guests will be among the first to preview The Kaohsiung Times, which will deliver dynamic English-language coverage of southern Taiwan’s economy, culture, and international connections.
  • Championing Integration and Inclusion With nearly 30,000 Filipinos living in southern Taiwan—from factory workers to educators—the initiative will better integrate their perspectives into Kaohsiung’s international narrative.
  • Spotlight on M1 International’s Vision M1’s broad portfolio spans finance, media, sports, and entertainment. Chairman Teddy Tsai recently acquired Maharlika FC of the Philippines, which is now exploring local opportunities for sports development, including enhancing youth football and leadership training.
  • Promoting Economic Vitality Alongside The Kaohsiung Times, M1 aims to strengthen Kaohsiung’s development as an asset-management hub, promoting financial literacy, investment education, and regional competitiveness.

Kaohsiung’s diverse landscapes—from Monkey Mountain to beaches and alpine forests above 2,000 meters—make it an attractive destination for global filmmakers. Guests on the 22nd will also enjoy a performance by DJ Subi, Kaohsiung’s renowned violinist-DJ, blending classical and contemporary sounds.
